The Zions Bank Beehive Classic is a Utah college basketball event that took place for the second year in a row. BYU, University of Utah, Weber State, and Utah State all participate at Vivint Smart Home Arena. This year, on December 8, BYU and Utah faced off at noon followed by the Utah State vs Weber State game at 2:30.

These amazing and evenly matched teams provide a very fun day for college basketball fans. Fans were able to purchase one ticket to attend the whole event.

On Saturday, BYU took on their age old rival, the University of Utah. These two teams have had a competitive history and this year BYU came away with the victory 74-59.

Yoeli Childs, BYU’s starting forward, put up 31 points. He also had a dunk over two Utah players, bringing him to number two on SportsCenter’s top ten.

Utah State also came away with the victory 76-67 over Weber State. Neemias Queta, Utah State’s starting center, ended up with 13 points. Queta was signed this season and came from Portugal. He is 6’ 11” and very promising for this team.

Jon Stauffer, a senior at Hillcrest who attended the games, offered an explaination for the win, saying, “They are a big team that can move the ball really well.”

Last year this event took place on December 9. BYU beat Weber State 74-68 and Utah beat Utah State 77-67. These close scores show how exciting this event can be for fans of the teams or college basketball fans in general.

Next season BYU will take on Utah State and Weber State will play against Utah. This event is very exciting and hopefully it will continue for years to come.
