Senioritis, if you think you’ve got it bad as a freshman, just wait till you hit senior year. According to Urban Dictionary, senioritis is “A crippling disease that strikes high school seniors. Symptoms include: laziness, an over-excessive wearing of track pants, old athletic shirts, sweatpants, athletic shorts, and sweatshirts. Also features a lack of studying, repeated absences, and a generally dismissive attitude. The only known cure is a phenomenon known as graduation.”

Many seniors fall victims to senioritis especially in the last quarter of school, only five months left. Let me tell you those months drag on forever! Hallie Kelsey, a senior at Hillcrest high school says “Feels like you ran a marathon, you just want to take a nap” High school is hard, but as a senior it seems like it’ll never end.

Hannah Beebe a senior from Jordan high school says “ I have no motivation, I hardly ever come, and I definitely have lower grade” Many people say senioritis is a choice and truly it is, but sometimes it just hits you and sometimes there nothing you can do to stop it. Senioritis is so bad, I had no motivation to do this article, but I pushed through and did it!

Here are some tips to help you “cure” senioritis.

  • Maintain a challenging course load
  • Enjoy the senior experience
  • Commit to an internship or career focus job
  • Keep a calendar of deadlines, and important dates
