It’s that time of year again for one of the biggest musical festivals in America. The Lineup for Coachella 2019 was released, and fans are jazzed. Tickets for the festival went on sale on January 4th, 2019, and weekend one was sold out within 40 minutes! This festival includes performers from all different genres of the music community.

This year, Coachella will be held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The festival begins on April 12, 2019, and continues through April 21, 2019.

Kanye West and Justin Timberlake, the headlining artists that were chosen in spring of last year, have changed due to tour dates and lack of cooperation. Kanye decided against performing at Coachella, because he wasn’t going to get a custom stage to “perform to his best capabilities.” Justin Timberlake, however, had to decline because of the conflict with his tour dates.

Some coachella fans are kind of disappointed by the chosen lineup, and want older artists as well as new ones.

“ Although I love the lineup, it’s just not the best it could’ve been. I was hoping to see some throwback artists, or someone like Kendrick Lamar as a starting lineup at least, I don’t know, I feel like it could’ve been better.”

The new headlining artists are Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, and Tame Impala, with many other well known artists, such as Khalid, Weezer, The 1975, and many others. The lineup consists of many smaller bands of indie, rock, r&b, and others.

Many music festivals occur across the U.S. for example, The Governors Ball, Lolapalooza, and Bonnaroo are some of the many that go on throughout the year.

“Governors Ball has a better line-up” shares HHS student Ella Copinga.
