A 17-year-old boy, Wang Shangkun, decided to sell his right kidney for an Iphone 4 and an Ipad 2 off the black market back in April of 2011. The boy is now 25 and is experiencing organ failure due to his surgery being unsanitary and not clean.

According to www.news.com.au, “At the time Chinese newspaper Xinhua reported that Wang first made contact with the alleged harvesters through internet chat rooms. He Wei, reportedly the leader of the gang, then made arrangements to hire a surgeon who worked at a nearby military hospital.”

He Wei offered him $20,000 for his kidney. He only got $3,500 while the rest was split between He Wei and his gang.

The following year in 2012, the nine people that were involved, including the surgeons, were arrested.

There was no real purpose to buying these Apple products. Wang Shangkun grew up in the poorer parts of China. He could not afford these products on his own so he decided to take matters into his own hands, which is costing his life.

He is now sentenced to be bedridden the rest of his life due to the complications of his kidney.
