You have heard of trivia shows like “Jeopardy,” “The Price is Right,” and “Who Wants to be a Millionaire,” but you’ve never seen anything like this.

On Tuesday, March 5, students from all over Hillcrest gathered to have a trivia night to have some fun and participate in the spirit week leading up to Prom. There were a total of 8 teams competing for the grand prize: A dozen Krispy Kreme donuts.

The way it worked was that each team had a turn to pick the category, which included Hillcrest trivia, History, Science, Sports, and Entertainment. When the categories were picked, every team was free to answer. Whichever team answered first got two points, and each predecessor got one point.

“I thought it was really cool,” said Hillcrest junior Salar Ahmed. He continued, “It was fun and they made it fair.”

Some of the questions asked were questions like, “When did Leavitt become principal of Hillcrest?” and “What are the four gas giants in our solar system?” and “What was the first team to win the World Cup?”

There were a total of 7 rounds, and after these seven were past, team God’s Plan took home the prize of 12 donuts to split among the 5 participants on the squad. These six were Salar Ahmed, Anthony Thai, Tony D, Nick Waddoups, and Jackson Metzger.

“I actually really liked the questions,” says Metzger. “I think it was fun, but I wish there were more opportunities for us to pick our categories… our team was too fire.”

This year’s trivia turned out to be a success and it was clear that the students of Hillcrest were some of the best trivia participants out there.
