After a state appearance last season, Hillcrest soccer is back and ready to roll. Junior Josy Garcia Molina said, “playing with Sparta United in the off-season helped my skills to develop even more, I’m going to miss my Sparta team, but it’s time for high school soccer”

Soccer preseason started Monday, March 4, 2019. The team played Farmington high school, JV lost 1-0 and Varsity tied 1-1. Junior Zackary DeWitt had to be taken out after receiving a yellow card. His back up, Jonathan Ruiz, scored a goal to tie the game. The team had their second preseason game March 7, 2019 against Northridge High

The Varsity and JV team play 6 preseason games outside of their tournament in Farmington, and 8 regular season games this year.

Of the 8 games, 4 of those will be played at home. Due to the construction at Hillcrest the team doesn’t have a soccer field. JV will play home games at East Midvale, and Varsity will play on the Hillcrest football field.

The Varsity team has six seniors, Alex Ludlum (goalie), Kaleb Larsen (CB), Giovanny Cisneros (M), Jace Rosenhan(DM), Ethan Ellsworth(OB), and Marcus Brauer(W)

This year the team has a new way of watching game film. Instead of watching on YouTube, the film will be uploaded on Hudl. This will allow for coaches and players to see highlights and stats while watching the film. Coach Davis, who is in his second consecutive year of coaching at Hillcrest, he said, “Hopefully this will make it easier for the players to find, and understand, what I am talking about.”
