The NBA, MLS, MLB, and all other professional sports leagues across the United States have shut down due to COVID-19, but the NBA still brought sports fans entertainment with the NBA 2k Players only tournament.

The Players only tournament was made up of 16 elite professional basketball players where they matched head to head to see who is the best NBA 2k player.

NBA 2k has been one of the most popular games on the market in recent years. 1.6 million people worldwide play the game at least 90 minutes per day, while 1.7 billion people have played the game at least once.

Devin Booker, the 5th seed, came out on top and was crowned the NBA 2k players tournament champion. The star donated the $100k prize to Coronavirus aid in Phoenix, Arizona.

Utah Jazz superstar Donovan Mitchell was one of the favorites to excel in this tournament but was beat 74-71 in the first round by Washington Wizard, Rui Hachimura. Hachimura ended up choosing the Lakers and Donovan chose the Nets to play with in the first round.

“I’m excited,” the Jazz guard said. “I don’t know much about his playing style. But I know how I hoop.”

The tournament aired on ESPN, taking up hours of the prime time sports network.

Trae Young and Andre Drummond showed their knowledge of the video game by dropping 101 points each in the first round, kicking opponents Harrison Barnes and Demarcus Cousins to the curb.
