Shawn (James Roday Rodriguez) and Gus (Dulé Hill) are back solving crimes in their own unique way.

The third installment of Psych movies, “This is Gus,” looks into Gus’s life. As someone the storyline says is only Shawn’s best friend, focusing on Gus’s personal life, something that has never been done before in the series.

“I’m hoping it’s more of Gus’s side of the story because it is mostly based off of Shawn, and the audience doesn’t hear as much of Gus’s side,” Abbi Clark said.

Shawn and Gus are still immature in “Psych 3,” but they are both starting to grow up, as seen in the trailer. In this part of the storyline, Guster is getting married to his girlfriend Selene (Jazmyn Simon), who was introduced in the first movie, “Psych: The Movie.”

“Psych is about a police agency and two best friends, one of them (Shawn Spencer) pretends he’s psychic, but he actually just has really good attention to detail and how they solve crimes,” Abbi Clark explained.

Another thing that fans were excited to see in the trailer was that Timothy Odmunsun’s character, Carlton Lassiter, seems to be back to what he used to be, the police chief who tries to figure out Shawn but never can. Odmonsun suffered from a stroke just before the filming for the first movie started in April of 2017. To accommodate that, the directors and writers at Psych switched up the script and took out Lassiter from the first movie. The second movie, “Psych 2: Lassie Come Home,” centered around how Lassiter was shot and suffered a stroke from the gunshot. It was elegant to see them accommodate Odmunsun in the script, making it seem that much more realistic.

“I was really excited because they are just so funny and enjoyable to watch,” Kaitlyn Clark (Abbi Clark’s sister) said after she heard the movie was coming out.

When the trailer came out, excitement and joy weren’t the only feelings people had. Many true “psychos,” like Kaitlyn Clark, responded with the perfect feeling for fans of the show. Kaitlyn Clark later added, “I was so psyched!” when she watched the trailer for the first time.

Both Clark sisters just finished watching every episode of “Psych” and are starting to rewatch them again. They are also in the middle of watching “The Office.”

Kaitlyn Clark told The PawPrint why she believes people should watch “Psych,” “I would tell them to watch it because it is better than “The Office.”

“Psych 3: This is Gus” comes out on NBC’s free streaming service, Peacock, on November 18th.
