Game Night for a Good Cause

On Dec. 8, 2021, the Hillcrest SBO’s had a night for students to play Super Smash Bros and Just Dance together at the school.

“All of our proceeds from the Smash Bros and Just Dance night go to RAINN, as well as the proceeds from all of our other events and assemblies,” Hillcrest Activity Coordinator Fatima Zaidi told the PawPrint.

RAINN, the organization all of the Hillcrest winter activities are benefitting, stands for the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network and is a hotline for preventing and helping victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence.

“We hope to make around $200 [from game night],” Zaidi said before the event. Unfortunately, the school didn’t meet its goal. They fell $75 short.

Each participant was charged a $5 entry fee to make money for RAINN.

The game night was a tournament, similar to March Madness.

“We’re going to have multiple games of Just Dance and Smash Bros,” Zaidi explained. “People are going to compete against each other using a bracket system to determine a winner for each game.”

Junior Andrew Wan was one of the students who attended the night.

When asked about what the game night was like, Wan told the PawPrint,” It was fairly well organized, the SBO’s did a good job, and the bracket was exciting.

It appears that game night was a success, raising money for a good cause and providing entertainment for students in the meantime.
