Although the buzz is back and everyone is raving excitedly about gen two being out for Pokémon Go you still shouldn’t go back to Niantic and here are reasons why:

  1. Bias to San Francisco Still There

It’s been evident since the beginning of the game that Niantic game programmers favor their hometown San Francisco. This includes higher spawn rates in the city to not even having to walk a couple steps and getting five Pokémon to spawn right by you. None of these Pokémon including a pidgey or paras that rural players are so use to. Other  examples is the fact that many new updates are given to San Francisco first before the rest of the world is able to see it.

  1. GPS Spoofing

Anyone who plays has been able to see the changes that Niantic is making in order to stop GPS spoofing yet it still happens. All they have done is make life harder as a normal player. The spoofing is a problem because players that sit in  their living room are able to travel the world with a click of their finger and get gyms across the world. Not to mention the regional Pokémon and completely mess up your pokedex.

  1. Empty Promises

Sure, the game came out with the long awaited gen two and is sure to follow suit for the next couple of generations of Pokémon, they have left players wanting more. Since October of 2016 there has been promises of one on one battles and trading Pokémon with other players yet there is nothing. Naitic had guessed the release of battling and trading to be released in December to follow the western holidays of family getting together and here we are empty handed, but oh yay for one hundred new Pokémon.

While the new Pokémon provide for a relief from the boring same old, same old that loyal players have been going through it does not excuse the fact that Niantic is avoiding the bigger problems with small side projects such as gen two, ditto and all the holiday events.
