The National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization that serves the Hillcrest community and surrounding communities.  NHS students plan activities, volunteer in service projects outside of the school, and tutor others who are struggling with their academics before and after school. They are a part of many fundraisers and service activities that helps others.

Participating in NHS has a lot of benefits.  In order to join, you need to maintain a 3.6 GPA or higher. Being in NHS will help you receive scholarships, gain experience with serving others, and develop skills in leadership.

“National Honor Society has really helped me grow as a person and become a better leader for others,” said senior Michelle Olvera. “I have been able to help myself through helping others and I am glad I decided to join this organization.”

Members have participated in services that affect them personally.  They have volunteered at the humane society, hospitals; they have also shown leadership through their own personal talents and sport activities.

“NHS has benefited me by giving me the opportunity to find new and diverse places to serve others in our community,” said senior Sophie Lovell. “This has affected me by introducing me to new experiences and helping me push myself to grow as a person.”

NHS is currently tutoring students before and after school as the semester is coming to an end.  Requesting tutors can easily be made through the NHS website: http://nhshillcrest.weebly.com/
