The National Honor Society is a very important club at Hillcrest High School. It provides a lot for our school, and many people are involved with it. There are many requirements to be apart of the National Honor Society.

In order to be apart of the society you have to be doing well in school and willing to challenge yourself. You also have to have a 3.5 GPA or higher, but if you are a senior you have to have a 3.75 GPA or higher.

Michelle Hawkins is the teacher in charge of the organization, and last year Hillcrest incorporated National Junior Honor Society. “I work with Van Dusen, but she is in charge of the National Junior Honor Society” says Hawkins.  Both of the organizations are very productive as many seniors, juniors, and sophomores are working together on the club.

Peter Jacob, a sophomore in NJHS, says it “helps you to become a better leader while helping others through service.”

One of the biggest things the National Honor Society does is peer tutoring. The seniors who are participating in the honor society come and help any students who are struggling in school. They are available to help many students. They are always there for people who need it.

The National Honor Society is a very beneficial program, especially to students struggling. Many students are involved in the program, and many are willing to help. The tutoring program is always there for people, and it is one of the best organizations at our school.
