Huskies don't belong in the desert

Last time Highland High played Hillcrest it resulted in a win for the Rams, and things went their way on Friday, too. on August 31st on the Highland high football field, the Huskies faced the Rams in a landslide game. The Highland Rams won the game 58-0

“Out of the gate we initially didn’t go out strong, and by the second quarter we generally lost hope for the game” said Junior Cutler Smith, the Varsity Cornerback. By halftime, the game had pretty much been decided with the score at 51-0.

At the game the student section seemed to be upset by the outcome with students describing the game as “disappointing”, “expected”, “trash” and “depressing.” Despite the circumstances of the game, the Hillcrest student section stayed true to a line of the school song “we’ll cheer you in your victories and in defeat stand by.” as an estimate of 200 Hillcrest supported attended.

The win got Highland back to even at 1-1 but the loss dropped Hillcrest’s record to 0-2. Although the season is off to a rocky start, the team is hopeful for the upcoming season. Smith described it as “uncharted water that we are yet to be discovered this football season.”

The student section is excited as well, “Win or lose the student section will do rowdy right and cheer loud,” says Sav Neff varsity cheerleader.
