What was tougher than writing this article? Eating the ribs. Known in Salt Lake for the best Barbeque, I was quite surprised as it has a 4.5 star rating on Google. As I walked in, the atmosphere was friendly and very welcoming, and the staff was patient as I was trying to choose what I wanted to eat.

“I think that’s when the real magic starts…the real hard work is done behind the scenes and before the doors open and you can taste that in the food. That goes really big in barbeque especially [when] working with smokers.” said Kealoha Drollinger-Maile, a frequent customer of R&R BBQ.

The wide range of barbeque foods they had as I was looking at the menu ranged from burgers, smoked meat and ribs, to salads. The mac and cheese was not as I expected, it felt like it was a bowl of cheese soup with noodles as a topping.

“I think that their quality has stayed the same at least since I’ve been going,” said Drollinger-Maile. “Even now that they are a part of a big food group corporation I think they are still doing great things.”

The brisket is smoked for a very long time and the fatty meat just melts in your mouth it is absolutely divine, but the ribs were not my favorite because it seems like the meat is too tough.

“They have the best smoked meats that I ever had, the chopped brisket is absolutely incredible I think that’s my favorite kind of meat they have, second would be the ribs” expressed Drollinger-Maile.

The brisket taste in the smoked meats gives it an extra kick, along with the well know BBQ sauces.

Enjoying the people around you with a big plate of barbeque is how I enjoyed my time at R&R BBQ, an unfinished plate left me satisfied as I left out the door. Leaving with the friendly smiles of the staff was a good way to end the day at R&R’s.

“I think R&R’s is known for big plates, big portions, and hearty barbeque,” says Drollinger-Maile. “You go if yo’ve got time for a good dinner with your friends and family.”

The love and care that is put into their business, along with the mouth watering brisket, burgers, and excellent service, has resulted in me giving four out of five paws for this review.
